Develop an understanding of the values and focus areas of 21st century schooling, school heritage and tradition, student and staff well being, and change management. Grow in your ability to build, contribute to and change culture in ways that enhance well being and participation.

On successful completion of this unit, you will be able to:

+ Define and differentiate the terms school culture and school climate, and apply a culture capture model to investigate and define the culture and climate within own school environment.

+ Research and document the traditions and history of the school and reflect on the impact of history and tradition on the development of culture.

+ Research and document the significance of school culture on the wellbeing of staff and students.

+ Outline and explain the need for alignment of vision, values and activities in building a sustainable and resilient school culture.

+ Recognise the benefits of using a planned, structured and team based approach to changing and/or building culture in your school.

+ Reflect on the skills of an effective change agent and apply models of change to assist with personal reactions to culture change.

+ Plan supportive strategies to build shared values and guide decision making during culture change.
